Helpful Tips To Purchase The Insurance You Really Need!

If you are going to be changing insurance companies, make sure that you do not have a gap in coverage. If you stop your old policy early, you will be responsible for any damages you have during your gap in coverage. If you have overlapping policies, you might overpay. Ideally, you should let the dates be set by your insurance company. This will keep the dates from overlapping, and will also prevent gaps.

Ensure you don’t forget to jot down the claim number. If you have to file an insurance claim, the insurance company will provide you with a claim number. Write it down and keep a record of that number. Write down the claim number more than one time. Put it in a secure location where you won’t lose it or misplace it.

If you’re moving, obtain insurance quotes for the area where you’ll be living. Depending on your place of residence and other factors, insurance companies will charge different premiums. If you see that one region is charging a very high premium, look at surrounding areas to see if it may be worthwhile to move somewhere else.

You have to be able to decipher the policy to get adequate insurance. It can be quite hard to understand the insurance terminology that is being used, so do not be afraid to request more information from your insurance provider. If you do not think the company is being truthful, ask a person you know to help you.

If you have ever shopped for an insurance policy you know that it is not something simple. However, if you know what you are doing, what you’re looking for, and what offers and deals are available to you, then you will come to see that it is actually quite a simple process.

American Property Loss Public Adjusters contend with homeowner insurance plan property loss claims day in and day out. Knowing your home-owner insurance plan coverages are very critical. If and whenever you need to depend upon your insurance coverage, as just in case of catastrophic property loss, it is very good to grasp what they will and will not likely do for your claim. Your Public Adjuster will usually ask for them well before any consultation.

Hail Storms Continue to Pound East Coast Properties

2012 has seen some of the most severe hail storms in years

Storm after storm has produced large damaging hail all across the US, especially in the Mid Atlantic

Reports of property damaging hail keep coming in.  The week leading up to the July 4th holiday has some of the strongest and widespead hail storms of the season.  Some areas that were affected are:

June 28th

  • Washington DC – Category 1

July 1st

  • Wilmington NC – Category 5
  • Columbia SC – Category 5
  • Greenville SC – Category 5
  • Raleigh NC – Category 5
  • Roanoke VA – Category 5
  • Cleveland OH – Category 5
  • Charleston SC – Category 5
  • Detroit MI – Category 5
  • Cincinnati OH – Category 4
  • Charleston WV – Category 4
  • Richmond VA – Category 4
  • Knoxville TN – Category 4
  • Macon GA – Category 4
  • Chicago IL – Category 4
  • Atlanta GA – Category 3
  • Milwaukee WI – Category 3
  • Morehead City NC – Category 3
  • Grand Rapids MI – Category 3
  • Indianapolis IN – Category 3
  • Evansville IN – Category 3
  • Fort Wayne IN – Category 3

July 3rd

  • Detroit MI – Category 3
  • Cleveland OH – Category 3
  • Grand Rapids MI – Category 2

With some of these areas being hit week after week, the amount of damage to roofs, gutters, siding and other exterior building components can be staggering.  Some property owners are calling in claims that are being denied for too little damage, only to have another storm hit a few days later causing more damage.  When the property owner calls back to report more damage they are having a hard time getting a reinspection of their property based on the prior inspection.

Some property owners are having a hard time getting any inspections at all, as adjusters are overwhelmed with claims.  Many times a third party inspection company is doing the inspection, for a fee, and denying the claim.

Insurance Is A Safety Net You Can’t Afford To Live Without

When switching from one insurance company to another, make sure that you are covered by the first company until the day the switchover occurs, but not longer. If your original policy is canceled too early, you’ll have to pay any costs you incur during that gap. Though if you have more than one policy that is overlapping, you can end up paying too much. You can ensure that you’re not caught in the middle of an overlap by allowing the insurance company to schedule the expiration dates of your policies.

Paying your insurance up front can save you lots of money. The discount you get will vary by company, but many companies are willing to give you up to a three percent discount for making it so that you can pay yearly rather than monthly.

The insurance department can give you information about any insurance agency in your state. These agencies will let you have access to information about complaints and prices. Whenever a company increases its premium rates, it has to notify the state and justify the hike. Look on the Internet to learn what you can from the public record.

Try to get all of your insurance policies through one agency. Most companies give you a 10% discount for having both your car and homeowners insurance with them. With a multiple policy discount, you could save as much as 20%.

If you are looking to get a new insurance policy, always check with the company or agent where you currently have an auto, home, health or life insurance policy. Oftentimes, insurance companies will offer you a discount for having multiple policies through them. Companies need the business and want to reward you for working with them.

Insurance policies can be fairly complex, especially when you get into all of the coverage details, but these tips should help you choose the best insurance for your needs and for your family. When you apply this knowledge, you should be able to get some great deals that you’re really proud of.

Public Adjusters manage home-owner insurance policy house loss claims day in and day out. Knowing your home owner insurance plan coverages are incredibly significant. If and whenever you need to rely on your insurance policy, as in case of catastrophic property loss, it can be great to understand what they will and would not do for you. Your Public Insurance Adjuster will usually request them before any property inspection.

Confused? Here Is Help To Choose The Right Insurance For You

With respect to anything that may lead to a claim being filed with your insurance company, stay calm and collected, and be sure to get all the facts and details. This information will help the insurance company represent you in court, and it could also expedite the processing of claims associated with the event.

The best mindset to have when thinking about the type of insurance that is right for you is to feel confident in your decision. You need to trust yourself that you have enough knowledge to make a sound decision. As long as you’ve done your research and made your decision based on facts, the policy you desire will be within reach!

Talk to you insurance agent about bundling different insurance policies, such as auto, home and health. Many insurance companies offer customers discounts for having more than one policy with them.

You can save money on your insurance costs by pre-paying. Many insurance carriers charge up to a three percent fee for monthly billing, and you can avoid that fee by paying annually.

Quit smoking to reduce insurance costs. Your health insurance premiums will go down significantly over time as you start to lose the health problems associated with smoking. Your life expectancy will rise and the amount you pay for life insurance premiums may reduce when you quit.

Don’t file little claims, even if you think they are covered. This is because you might see a raise in your premium cost for things that you could probably take care of without the need for insurance. The majority of insurance companies also offer an incentive award of reduced premiums based on the number of years you go without filing a claim. Your full coverage won’t change, so you will still be prepared in the case of a large incident.

This article mentioned earlier the complex nature of insurance, but since you have learned some tips from this article, you should now be equipped with the knowledge to easily select the right insurance. If you are already covered, you can ditch your ripoff of a plan and head to greener pastures.

Colorado Insurance Commissioner – What does a Public Adjuster do for the property owner?

Total loss house fire

How would you document everything that you had if this were your home?

This article released June 28, 2012 by the Colorado Dept. of Insurance is to help people that have suffered property damage, in this case specifically form the wildfires, understand what roles a Public Adjuster can play in the claim settlement process.  It covers what does a PA do, how much should a PA charge and tips before hiring any Public Adjuster.

This article helps people determine what is expected from a Public Adjuster, especially in complex losses such a total loss fires.

Many times the insurance company’s adjuster will tell you that you do not need the services of a PA.  Why?  Isn’t that person supposed to do the same things for you?  Unfortunately not.  Yes the company adjuster will document what they see and try and determine the items that are no longer visible, but that person’s job is to review the documents you a re required to submit and determine the legitimacy and accuracy of any items claimed.  The adjuster may not have any building experience to help determine the costs of setting roof trusses.  The adjuster may not know the value of your LP collection or how to determine it.  The adjuster may know nothing about business inventory. A Public Adjuster help ties all of these items together to maximize the property owner’s recovery for the loss.

Buying Real Estate: Advice You Should Follow

Many programs exist to ease the burden of making a down payment, and you have no reason not to see if you qualify for some of them. The amount of savings required to purchase a home can be significantly reduced by this and closing costs that are paid by the seller.

When shopping for a new house, it is advisable to take someone with you who is more experienced with purchasing real estate or new homes. This is great, because there is a chance they notice problems you haven’t. You can even ask them before you arrive to ask things of the realtor as well.

When buying a house, put the focus on your personal desire, rather than future value. Investors disagree about whether now is a good time to buy a large or expensive house, but not all investors are so cautious. Some experts recommend that you buy big now, the thinking being that this dip in housing prices is just temporary.

Always get an inspection of the home you wish to buy. You don’t want to have a home that needs tons of renovating. This will not only cost you extra money, you might have to find suitable living arrangements while the home is being repaired.

Do not purchase a house until a qualified home inspector goes over everything thoroughly. It is best to hire a professional, rather than a friend or relative, because you won’t have much recourse if the person you ask to do the work misses something important.

Research market conditions before you begin searching for local real estate investments. Check websites including City-data.com to find out about foreclosed homes, median selling prices, housing backlogs and the average time on the market for homes in your Zip code. Also, make sure to look into the income levels of the people that live in the area, local employers and unemployment rates. But don’t just look at statistics. A terrific house in a great neighborhood can defy the averages.

You will enjoy great success if you walk into the market having done your research in advance. An excellent method of establishing success is by having the proper amount of knowledge. This article has given you information on how to use your knowledge in the right way. The ball is now in your court.

Our APL Public Adjusters manage home-owner insurance plan property loss claims on a daily basis. Figuring out your house owner insurance plan coverages are incredibly critical. If and whenever you need to rely on your insurance coverage, as in the event of catastrophic property loss, it really is excellent to understand what they will and wouldn’t do for your claim. Your Public Insurance Adjuster will constantly ask for them ahead of any meeting.

June 25 2012 – Wild Weather in the Southeast causes Property Damage

Wind Blown Trees

Strong winds can easily damage property

As a rare cold front moved through the Southeast US on June 25 2012, temperatures dropped by from the mid 90’s to the 70’s in a matter of minutes sparking strong thunderstorms, hail and a few isolated tornado sightings.  Summer storms like these can cause large amounts of differing types of damage from straightline winds well in excess of 50 mph, heavy rain, lightning, falling trees and branches and hail.  It’s possible for one storm to cause one type of damage in one town and a completely different type of damage in the next town over, potentially causing confusion over when and how property damage occurred.

Raleigh NC and Richmond VA both had category 1 hail events with small hail coming during the night in both cities.  Even hail this size, when combined with strong winds, can cause damage to roofs more than 10 years old.

If you have filed a wind or storm damage claim, or are not sure if you have a claim, call today for a free claim review.
